I have a question to this problem: if x is greater than -1 but smaller than 3, then x could be 0. Therefore, the result could be equal 0 or greater than 0. Is that right or am I mistaking something?

If x = 0 , then the expression possesses the only one definite value (0 – 4)(0 – 3)(0 + 2)(0 + 1) = 24 , which is positive.
