Ok so here is a question.......I have these weeks where I do nothing but study for the GMAT, then I take like a week off and when I return to my books, I forgot like half the stuff. Any ideas how I can retain what I learn. If I cant keep it in my head for a week, how am I gonna keep it in my head in a few months when I actually have to take this exam ?
I get this question a lot from students. The best advice I can give is for you to balance your schedule. You should have a consistent GMAT study strategy. You need to set aside certain times on certain days, 1.5-2 hrs a day is the best, in my opinion. You also need to study incrementally. Don't just study a bunch of things at once. You want to segment your study strategy so that you attack a certain subject area, continue studying it until you are completely at ease with it, and then move on to the next study topic. So lets recap:
Balence Organize Segment Master Continue
Follow these basic guidelines and you should be able to both retain and understand more of what you are studying.
